This is my 11th year at Westlake and 28th year of teaching!
I was born and raised in Schaumburg Illinois and studied Math Education at NIU. In 1990, I moved to Northern California where I taught both middle school and high school math. I have a masters in curriculum and instruction from Chapman College as well as a masters in Educational Leadership from Santa Clara University.
We moved to Austin in 2006 with the intention of providing an excellent education for our children. We have not been disappointed! The goal was to be on campus with my sons when they were in high school: GOAL ACHIEVED! This year my oldest, Matthew, will be a Junior. He plays French Horn. He was so lucky to spend this last summer at Interlochen Center for the Arts. He had an incredible time at a magical place. My youngest, Andrew, will be a Freshman. He is a swimmer! He has some of the best comedic timing. He always makes me laugh!
I was lucky enough this summer to spend the month of July in Salamanca Spain studying Spanish with my youngest son. We had an amazing time! We learned a lot about the Spanish culture as well as about each other. 4 weeks with this 14 year old created some amazing memories. The photo you see is my LOVE for Paella! It was a favorite while in Spain!
This is my 5th year as Department Chair. I work with some of the most phenomenal people. It's always a great day to be a Chaparral.
